No, but he's on his way to making a glossy gradient there.
Xuzi: I can tell you're trying to improve since even that second image was a HUGE step up from the first. I speak from experience when I say that designing is not easy. I originally tried to be a designer instead of a coder, but it got too hard and I was too impatient. (I was also like 12 or 13 at the time, back when I was lazy and a failure at life.) Just stick with it, and keep reading tutorials. Maybe take a look at key design sites and see what makes people consider their templates "good."

AhHaaa, but there you have it. You will fail. When you begin, pretty much everything you do will 'fail' in a couple of months, you may start turning a few heads, then in a year, you'll hopefully be able to produce good templates, and code them using good coding... It's a learning curve.

Not enough contrast between the header and the text on the header. Just because you can read it doesn't mean the rest of the world will be able to. Add some more colors, you need to stop with the whole duotone thing.
And the spacing in the categories & boards is way too large. You'll notice that IRL, it's only 1px, so making it 5 is kind of over-doing it.

Yeah you always want to have your text readable so you should use a different contrast and a different color for your text. White text is best on dark backgrounds and black text on light backgrounds.
Your new designs looks pretty good to me. I'd want to decrease the width on the dark lines in the cat windows. (You know what I mean?)
