GIFs will work cross-browser. However, they only support complete transparency, not translucency. PNGs support both (known as alpha blending). They work in every browser on the planet except versions of Internet Explorer 6 & below. There's a special code that you can use for that, though. Google "internet explorer png transparency".

Try brightening the blue in the head/base images, and dimming the blue of the link colors. See what that does for you.

Search for my Tri-Image Category Splitter. That's the type of code that puts an image behind the category table. As for the other effect, your head image is WAAAAY too big. Try shrinking down the size of it a bit.

How to make a glossy effect like that? I'll have to write a tutorial on that. The process is really simple, but kinda hard to explain. I'll get to that sometime today. The transparency stops should be at the same position as the color stops. You can adjust the transparency for whatever spot you choose. Just think of different transparencies as different colors blending together. It's the same concept. Patterns can work with gradient overlays. Just make sure that your object is about in the middle of the colors in the gradient, and lower the opacity of the entire gradient overlay. The pattern will blend through then. Remember, you can use a luminosity or multiply blend to get rid of colors in a pattern. I have never heard of an LUCE filter. You're on your own there, sorry. Just zoom in and use a 1px pencil. That's the easiest way.

A head should never be above 25px, unless you have something creative to add on. A base image should also always be smaller than the head image.
Patterns are to be avoided, unless you have a good use for them. For example, the strokes in my banner & head image, that was a pattern. That works.
Transparency should also be avoided if at all possible. Use solid backgrounds whenever you can.
Any other questions, just ask.

I say we put an end to sigs with rounded corners! I sig is supposed to be a rectangle with a solid border, not a frickin' huge rounded rectangle with no border! Crazy, I need your support. Stop makin' sigs with rounded corners! They look very retarded. This is not to start an uproar. It's to see who's with me on this.

That's why you claim a thread before making something. Just post saying that you'll do it. Then make another post with the completed request. If it happens to be a double-post, I won't care. That's one of the few exceptions to the "no double-posting" rule.

I've considered it, but then again, I don't find it to be very useful. If somebody doesn't use the template, I already know that they didn't read the rules. Then I can just lock it there and call him an idiot. Plus, there are many who would still ignore it.

Whatever floats your boat. Anyways, I agree. I'm using v1 right now. ALSO, I showed this site to a buddy of mine who has apparently had his head in his ass for the past few years (he'd never heard of the Studio. ). He said the v2 design was ok, but nothing really special. As cool as v2 is, it just doesn't work out completely. I'm not sure why.

I see this in Firefox, and it may just be a rendering error. It does take some creativity to get to. Open the database, and click "Creators". Look at any coder (besides Chris), and view their codes. Then click the "All" link. The list overflows the cell. It may just be me, but I'm not sure.

The default TZ is for somewhere in New Zealand, right? Well, that makes it kind of confusing on guests, most of which living nowhere near it. It'd only be a small change to set it to CDT, right?

Clicky ClickyNotice how none of the shortcut links in the first post do anything. That means that they are failing to do... something. Any reason you can think of, Chrisy-boy?
